About Us

Chorley Bowmen is an archery club based in Chorley, Lancashire. It is a member of Lancashire Archery Association and works to promote both the traditional and modern Olympic side of the sport.

We are a relatively new club, founded in 1980 but have quickly become known as a friendly and welcoming club. Both able bodied and those with disabilities are welcome at Chorley Bowmen and help is always on hand from our qualified coaches. Our members are of all ages and abilities, so you will not feel left out.

Shooting

During the indoor and outdoor seasons we hold regular club competitions based on members handicap scores -
so everyone has the chance to win!

Summer Months

From April up to the end of September, we shoot at Wigan Lane Playing Fields, situated adjacent to Duxbury Golf Course. Club nights are Tuesday and Thursday but we do occasionally shoot at weekends and members also shoot at different times provided that the field is available and at least two full members are present at all times.

Winter Months

During the winter, we shoot at South Ribble Tennis and Fitness Centre in Bamber Bridge (behind Sainsburys supermarket). Club nights are Tuesday and Friday, commencing at 7pm to approximately 10pm.

Achievements

Although we have a relatively short history Chorley Bowmen and its members have had many achievements and successes over the years. These include;

  • Two Great Britain squad members

  • Six Lancashire squad members

  • Holders of several Lancashire records

  • Having hosted the Lancashire Championships, Northern Counties and the UK Masters
